Set in the lovely Lancashire seaside town of Lytham St. Anne's, The Dalmeny Resort Hotel is the perfect destination for a family holiday filled with happy memories. We're also known for great fresh food and fantastic service. We're partnering with the North Lancs Training Group to offer this exciting Apprentice Chef opportunity. The ideal candidate will be working closely with our Head Chef, Chris Smith, who brings 30 years of culinary expertise across a wide variety of settings.

 

The Person

 

As an Apprentice Commis Chef, you will be working closely with the Chef de Parties, Sous Chef, and Head Chef to assist in creating high-quality dishes all while learning new techniques and skills. It is 40 hours per week, 5 days over 7, including weekend work & evening work. This will be paid monthly.

 

Requirements

 

  • GCSE's including Maths and English

Learners who have not already achieved Level 1 English and Maths, must do so as part of the programme and must also attempt the assessment at Level 2

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

A Commis Chef is the most common starting position in many kitchens and in principal the most junior culinary role. The primary objective of the Commis Chef is to learn and understand how to carry out the basic functions in every section of the kitchen on rotation – such as fish, pastry, sauces, vegetables, and butchery – with a view to choosing an area they feel most inspired to specialise in. A Commis Chef will be supervised by a more senior chef and will need to understand and have experience in the basics that the commis chef role provides, in order to progress to any future senior chef role. The dishes produced by a Commis Chef will be prepared completely from scratch.

A Commis Chef responsibilities also include -

  • Ensuring full area of responsibility is clean, appropriately presented and always stocked
  • Assisting in the food preparation process
  • Following instructions and preparation for recipes based on restaurant standards
  • Dealing with deliveries and stock rotation Following health and safety and food hygiene practices

 

The progression

 

This role may be a gateway to further career opportunities in this sector, such as management or senior support roles, or to further study such as the Level 3 Chef de Partie Apprenticeship
