Bar Indigo was officially opened by Sir Bobby Charlton on Tuesday 10th May. Sir Bobby stayed at The Dalmeny, together with remaining members of England’s 1966 World Cup winning team, when they held their annual reunion and golf tournament, which this year marks their 45th anniversary.
Without exception, they all expressed their appreciation of the excellent accommodation, food and service provided by the hotel, and the personal attention they received from both the management and staff.
This was summed up by Jimmy Armfield in his letter to Zoe Robertson the hotel’s General Manager/Director
‘They [the players] all left this morning, praising the hotel and the venue. In my opinion it has been the best. The rooms and food have been first class – as I knew they would be. Thank you for making it one we won’t forget.’
The hotel was presented with a 1966 world cup shirt signed by all the players present, and this will be framed and displayed with pride in the hotel.
